How to make dal tadka
1. Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for at least half an hour.
2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils, water, and turmeric powder. Cook for about 3 whistles or until the lentils are soft and mushy.
3. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
4. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies to the pan. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
5. Add salt, red chili powder, and garam masala powder to the pan. Mix well.
6. Pour this tempering mixture over the cooked lentils in the pressure cooker.
7. Stir well to combine all the flavors and cook on low heat for another 5 minutes.
8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving hot with rice or roti.
